Description:
Motherload is a classic mining adventure game that was first released in 2004 by XGen Studios. The game takes players deep into the earth of an alien planet to mine various raw materials.
In Motherload, players control a mining pod as they dig through layers of rock and earth to collect precious resources. The mission is to mine resources, bring them back to the mineral processing plant, and sell them. Initially, your mining vehicle won’t be able to travel far, and you’ll need to resurface frequently to refuel and sell your resources.
You can purchase various upgrades to your fuel tank, cargo capacity, drill, engine, hull, and radiator using your earned money. Once you’ve made some upgrades, you’ll be able to travel deeper into the ground safely, where you’ll find more valuable minerals like platinum and emeralds. Once you hit roughly -1000 ft, you’ll also find religious artifacts that instantly grant you $50,000.
The game is set at a vague time in the future where humans have colonized Mars (with extensive terraforming) and some of Jupiter’s moons, and developed various advanced technology, including teleportation and force fields. You begin the game as a drill miner on Mars, hired by Mr. Natas, the owner of a mining company. Running out of health or fuel will cause the mining pod to explode, forcing you to restart at the last save point.
Motherload is a game similar to Dig-Dug, in which you dig up ores and minerals from Martian Soil. It’s more of a flash game than an actual game. However, with the release of Motherload: Goldium Edition, which is an expanded version of the original game, the game became a little bit more than that.
