Description:
The McDonald’s Video Game is a Flash game developed and published by the Italy-based group Molleindustria in 2006. This satirical game is an “anti-advergame,” meaning it humorously critiques various companies and their business practices. It has also been classified as a newsgame or an editorial game by Ian Bogost.

In the game, players take on the role of a McDonald’s CEO and make decisions that impact the fate of their company. The game presents four views: the farmland, the slaughterhouse, the restaurant, and the corporate HQ. Players can choose whether to feed their cows genetically altered grain, plow over rainforests, or engage in other questionable practices. Advertising strategies and public official corruption can also be employed to counteract opponents. Some choices within the game portray the corporation in a negative light, leading McDonald’s to issue a statement disassociating itself from the game.
