Description:

Rummikub is a classic tile-based game that blends elements of rummy and mahjong, designed for 2 to 4 players. The game comprises 106 tiles: numbers 1 through 13 in four distinct colors, each appearing twice, along with two joker tiles. Each player starts with 14 tiles, aiming to be the first to play all their tiles by forming valid sets and runs.

Objective

The primary goal is to be the first to lay down all your tiles. Players create sets (groups of three or four tiles of the same number in different colors) and runs (three or more consecutive numbers in the same color).

Gameplay

Players take turns placing tiles from their racks into valid sets or runs on the table. The initial move for each player must have a total value of at least 30 points. If a player cannot make a valid move, they draw a tile from the pool. An essential feature of Rummikub is the ability to manipulate existing sets on the table, adding strategic depth to the game.

Jokers

Joker tiles can substitute for any tile in a set or run. However, they carry a penalty of 30 points if left on a player's rack at the end of the game.

Winning

The round concludes when a player successfully plays all their tiles, declaring "Rummikub." The winner's score is the sum of the values of the tiles remaining on the opponents' racks, while opponents receive negative scores equivalent to their unplayed tiles.

Rummikub's combination of luck and strategy has made it a beloved game worldwide, earning accolades such as the German "Spiel des Jahres" (Game of the Year) in 1980. Its engaging gameplay ensures that each session is both challenging and entertaining for players of all ages.
